Dr. Allison Stewart grew up on a small farm with horses, dogs, and cats in northern Maine. She attended veterinary school at Oklahoma State University and received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1988. Following that she did an internship in Equine Surgery and Medicine at Kansas State University. In 1999 she completed a residency in Large Animal Surgery at Cornell University. In 2000, she received her Master’s Degree in research involving bone marrow-derived stem cells and became a Diplomate in Large Animal Surgery. Since that time Dr. Stewart has worked as a private practitioner, a surgeon, a teacher, and a researcher. Dr. Stewart moved back to Maine to be close to her family. She enjoys horseback riding, skiing, running, spending time with the three family dogs.
